We believe and confess that man was created by God. The body of man, the material part, is made of dust, while the spiritual nature of man is from God, created in the image and likeness of God.
Genesis 1:27 “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.”
Genesis 2:7 “then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.”
God created man upright and perfect, yet not fully mature, with the free will to choose good or evil.
Genesis 1:31 “And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good.”
Ecclesiastes 7:29 “God made man upright…”
Genesis 2:17 “…but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat…”
Psalm 107:17 “Some were fools through their sinful ways, and because of their iniquities suffered affliction.”
Deuteronomy 30:15 “See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil.”
Through the fall into sin, man fell under a curse and became incapable of living out the will of God. Through natural birth, everyone inherits the seed of sin, the inclination toward evil, and the earthly nature.
Romans 5:12 “…just as sin came into the world through one man… and so death spread to all men because all sinned…”
Romans 5:19 “…by the one man's disobedience the many were made sinners…”
Romans 7:17 “…sin that dwells within me.”
Romans 7:18 “For I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out.”
Romans 7:20 “…I do what I do not want…”
Romans 7:23 “…but I see in my members another law… making me captive to the law of sin…”
As a free being, man is accountable before God for all his deeds, words, and thoughts. All people must die, and after death comes judgment and eternal reward.
Romans 14:12 “So then each of us will give an account of himself to God.”
Matthew 12:36 “…people will give account for every careless word they speak.”
2 Corinthians 5:10 “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.”
Hebrews 9:27 “…it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.”
