I. The Bible – The Word of God
We believe and confess that the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are inspired by the Holy Spirit. They are the written Word of God, a divine revelation for the human race, and the unerring source of our knowledge of God.
Galatians 1:11–12 “…the gospel… is not man's gospel… but it came through a revelation of Jesus Christ.”
2 Peter 1:21 “For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”
2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is breathed out by God…”
John 10:35 “…Scripture cannot be broken…”
Joel 2:28 “…I will pour out my Spirit… your sons and your daughters shall prophesy…”
Matthew 10:20 “…for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.”
1 Corinthians 2:10 “…these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit…”
1 Corinthians 11:23 “For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you…”
The Bible—the Word of God written through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit—is the only rule and norm of faith and conduct in this life.
Ephesians 1:13 “In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him…”
2 Timothy 1:13 “Follow the pattern of the sound words that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.”
Romans 10:17 “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”
2 Timothy 3:16–17 “All Scripture is… profitable… that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”
Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
The Bible is the sole authority in matters of religion; it is sufficient for our instruction. Thus, there is no need for the support of tradition.
